OUR JOINT STATEMENT TO RISHI SUNAK

Southside BID has joined leaders from across the city to send a letter to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, in response to Birmingham being placed in Tier 2, and the impact of the new restrictions banning mixing of households in hospitality settings.

Coupled with the 10pm curfew, this is another significant blow for the hospitality sector and our local businesses, many of whom are struggling to survive. They are now caught between a rock and a hard place – allowing them to remain open means they will not be able to access some of the funding and grants available to businesses that are forced to close, but these latest restrictions will inevitably have a significant impact on their bookings and income.

We call for the Government to review the available support for businesses affected by these measures before it is too late.
