COMMONWEALTH GAMES: WELCOME TO SOUTHSIDE

COME ONE, COME ALL

We’ve got theatre, restaurants, cinema, comedy and live music. But we’re not finished adding new sectors and interests to our ever-growing district; and with the Commonwealth Games arriving in 2022, the latest venue announcement will bring world class athletes to Southside.

The site of the much talked about Smithfield development will host 3x3 basketball and beach volleyball when the games arrive in two years’ time. In fact, Southside will be the first ever location to host 3x3 basketball at the Commonwealth Games.

You’ll also find wheelchair basketball making its Commonwealth Games debut at Smithfield – a sport which is expected to be one of the highlights of the integrated para-sports programme.
