MOOR STREET QUEENSWAY CLOSURES

WMNetwork.JPG

In order to plan and prepare for the construction of the new HS2 railway and Curzon Street station development, early works and utility diversions are taking place on roads around Birmingham City Centre.

As a result of these works, a section of the Southbound carriageway (towards Bullring and Selfridges) on Moor Street Queensway will be closed from Monday 4th January to Friday 8th January 2021, and as a result there will be changes to some bus journeys.

Some bus stops along Moor Street Queensway, Priory Queensway and Carrs Lane will be temporarily closed and relocated elsewhere while the work is carried out.

This will mean:

  • Only buses, cyclists and black cabs can use Moor Street Queensway

  • There is no access from Jennings road towards Digbeth or the Bull Ring and Selfridges car parks

  • If you are travelling by private vehicle to Bullring and Selfridges car parks or Moor Street station, approach from the Digbeth side (leave the Middleway at Camp Hill or Bordesley Circus)

  • Access for loading and unloading to Moor Street Station and other premises in the area won’t be affected, however, you may need to use an alternative route

  • If you are travelling by private vehicle to the M&S collection area, Carrs Lane or Albert Street, approach from the Moor Street Queensway (north) side (leave the Middleway at A47, the old Ashted Circus)

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) wants everyone to travel around easily and safely when they return to work school and collage in the New Year after the Christmas break. To do this a toolkit has been created that includes social media & digital screen images, posters, links to the webpage with a story map, and access to timetables to help travel during this week.

You can visit the dedicated webpage for these bus changes on the West Midlands site, here.
